Are you in search of original, meaningful, and quality content for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration? Are you in search of a unique way to celebrate a Bar/Bat Mitzvah?

There is no better place in Jerusalem than the Tower of David Museum.

Here at the museum, in an historic environment rich in history with an unforgettable view, Bar and Bat Mitzvah boys and girls and their families can host a charming and meaningful event for their family and friends.

Jerusalem, with its different cultures and foods and unique sites, presents a wide range of possibilities for an event perfectly catered to your needs.

Below are some suggestions of different activities that can be combined with reading the Torah at the Western Wall or a visit to the Old City and with a festive or light meal for a meaningful and fun Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration. Invite friends and family to a celebration filled with Jerusalem joy!

The Best Guide You Can Get

Bar and Bat Mitzvah boys and girls often take lessons to prepare them for the event that marks their reaching the age of mitzvot. At their Bar/Bat Mitzvah, they often share what they learn by reading the Torah and/or giving a sermon. In this program, we invite the Bar Mitzvah boy/Bat Mitzvah girl to receive professional training in honor of their celebration that will not only prepare them for their important event but that will enrich the event as well. This program provides the Bar Mitzvah boy/Bat Mitzvah girl with a unique opportunity to be guides themselves and lead their guests, family, and friends on a tour of the ancient citadel in which they themselves will tell the story of Jerusalem.

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah boy or girl will meet with an assigned guide from the museum’s Education Department and receive training to prepare them to take their family and guests on a fascinating hour and a half journey of 4,000 years of Jerusalem’s history that none of the guests will ever forget.

After the cake, cookies, burekas, and greetings, there is nothing like warming up the muscles and…starting to run!

If you are interested in an enjoyable, memorable, and enriching family celebration, we offer a competitive family marathon that incorporates Jerusalem, its cultures, history, and rulers. You will solve riddles, perform challenging missions throughout the Citadel, climb the slope of the Citadel’s towers, discover its hidden passageways, and at the end you’ll reach the hidden treasure.

This activity requires creative thinking and collaboration and will provide, aside from the sought-after hidden treasure, approximately three hours of fun and a unifying  and unforgettable experience.

Celebrating with King David

A tour of the Citadel is always fascinating and includes stunning views and beautiful archaeological remains. Yet, when was the last time you met King David himself in all his glory? Has someone in your class already celebrated a Bar/Bat Mitzvah with King Herod in King Herod’s palace?

The guests of honor at your event will be kings, rulers, and colorful characters from Jerusalem’s rich past. During the tour of the Citadel, characters in costume will appear and will tell you about the different periods in Jerusalem’s history. They will send you on missions in the spirit of the different periods and will give you a taste of everyday life in the city throughout the generations. The activity is fun and light-hearted and promises an educational, enriching, and unique Bar or Bat Mitzvah event.
