A Trip Through Time to Fink’s Bar

Thursday, November 15 and Saturday, November 17 I Part of the Open Restaurants Festival

“Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.” Casablanca

Smooth your skirt and straighten your tie – the Tower of David Museum and the Open Restaurants Festival bring the stormy nights of Fink’s Bar to life. Food, drink, stories, and music – inspired by the bar which became a symbol of Jerusalem Bohemian culture.

For 86 years, since 1932, the nights in the mythological Fink’s seemed as though they were taken straight from a Hollywood movie. And how could they not? Through the years, Fink’s became a pilgrimage site for many famous people – Alexander Penn, Dan Ben-Amotz, Arthur Rubinstein, Leonard Bernstein, Gunter Grass, Marc Chagall, Kirk Douglas, Romy Schneider, Paul Newman, Danny Kaye, John Steinbeck, Martha Graham, Claude Lanzmann, Simone de Beauvoir, Shirley MacLaine, and many more who enjoyed Viennese schnitzel and caviar. Top-level politicians held secret meetings, British officers sipped imported gin, starving artists paid for their bowl of goulash with their works, and Bohemians scribbled obscenities in the guest book.

And now – it’s your turn.

At the entrance, the bartender will present you with a drink which will be accompanied by a light opening course – herring or goulash (in order to help clear your throat). After the drink flows – you will surely want to join in a stormy swing dance set; no need to worry about the steps.

In the corner of the room you can hear the most interesting, magical secrets. And if you want to truly indulge yourself – we have prepared a modern variations of Fink’s signature dishes.
