A City and at its Center, a Wall: The Story of the City Line – In Hebrew
For 19 years, Jerusalem was divided but the Jewish people still yearned for the Jewish Quarter and the Western Wall. The ceasefire line between Israel and Jordan was called by all “the City Line” which divided the entire city from the area of Armon HaNetziv until the Israeli enclave on Mt. Scopus. It crossed residential neighborhoods, and included no-man’s lands containing neighborhoods that disappeared. The tour examines life next to the fences between 1948-1967 and explores the neighborhoods that sat on the City Line and the stories of the defenders will be told … and also the secrets that have been kept over the years. Starting Point: The Tower of David Museum | End point: The First Station
