Guide
Tower of David Jerusalem museum
The 19th century commands a place of honor among the thousands of years of Jerusalem’s history. During the Modern Period, Jerusalem was transformed from a small, neglected city to a center of interest for the Great Powers of the world. Over a short time period , the city spread outside of the city walls and the population grew at a dizzying pace. The face of the city changed with improved technology, and established institutions and neighborhoods. During this time, Jerusalem was decorated with architectural pearls that exist until today.
The tour starts on Jaffa Rd, the important center of the city during those days, and continues to the Tower of David Citadel, home to the renewed Tower of David Jerusalem Museum. There, visit the innovative galleries showcasing rare, archive footage of Jerusalem during modern times, possible because of the invention of photography. We will see a huge, original model of Jerusalem at the end of the 19th century, and finish at a panoramic observation point at the highest elevation in the Old City.
