New, unique guided tour including two art exhibits at the Museum: “On the Other Side” and “Umbilicus”. The tour combines examining the art works together with historical and archaeological information about the Citadel that serves as the backdrop for these exhibits.
You are invited to dive into the unique world of the artist Zadok Ben-David and discover the reason he is drawn to butterflies; enter the mysterious magic of the Kishle space, hosting for the first time an art exhibit; and learn about the first art exhibits shown at the Tower of David at the beginning of the 20th century.
Exhibitions included in the tour:
- “On the Other Side”: a new exhibit by international artist Zadok Ben-David. The exhibit combines works of sculpture and video spread throughout the Citadel. Some of the works were created especially for the Tower of David and are presented for the first time in Israel. Through figures from the natural world, the exhibit presents the tension of extremes between which both man and nature vacillate: between mourning and renewal, between darkness and light, between pessimism and optimism.
Curator: Eilat Lieber
- “Umbilicus”: an interdisciplinary group exhibit of works by leading Israeli artists. The exhibit includes paintings, video art, and sound productions, interwoven in synergy in the ancient space of the Kishle.
Curators: Adina Kamien and Malu Zayon
The tour includes ascent via stairs to the Kishle and is not appropriate for those with limited mobility.
