Tower of David Jerusalem Museum guides
More than a thousand years of Muslim rule in Jerusalem, the third most important city in Islam, have shaped the face of the city as we know it today. When and why did Islam arrive in Jerusalem? When were the magnificent mosques on the Temple Mount built? How did Saladin defeat the Crusaders and why did his successors destroy the city walls?
The tour opens a window on the Islamic traditions, rulers and art in Jerusalem, and also the complex challenges facing the holy places in the city.
The tour takes place in the Tower of David Citadel, home of the renewed Tower of David Jerusalem Museum. Visit the museum galleries featuring innovative interactive displays and original archaeological objects. Stroll through the courtyard of the ancient Citadel, and finish at a panoramic observation point at the highest elevation in the Old City at the top of the Phasael Tower.
