Guide
New Bezalel Academy campus, Russell Berrie Auditorium
Two exhibits – “Spirit of Stone” at the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum, and “Forsaken Zone” at HaMiffal – open a window on the formative years of the Jerusalem School, a special artistic style that developed in the city starting from the days of the establishment of “Bezalel, Study Hall for the Arts” in 1906, and continuing until today.
To what degree does the “Jerusalem School” impact the history of Israeli art? Who were the key figures? Which events led to the definition of this school? And how are these presented in Jerusalem art today?
These questions and others will be discussed at the conference, a product of the cooperation between Bezalel Academy, the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum, and HaMiffal. Among the participants are leaders in the field of Jerusalem and Israeli art, including curators, researchers, and artists.
