Fifty years ago, one of Israel’s most disruptive protest movements was established in Jerusalem – the Black Panthers. Young people from the Musrara neighborhood went out to the streets and demanded: “Equality, Justice, Respect,” and they weren’t afraid of anyone.
On this tour, dive into the neighborhood at the heart of the story, understand the painful past of Musrara, learn about the children who became protesters, and examine why Golda Meir said of them, “They are not nice,” and Teddy Kollek shouted to them, “Get off the grass!” Walk between the alleyways and squares and learn the stories and visit the hidden corners.
Meeting Point: Canada House, 13 Daniel St
Ending Point: City Center
Advanced reservation required | Comfortable walking shoes recommended
