Tour in the Bukharan neighborhood, in the past known as “the most beautiful of them all.” Among the luxurious homes, we tell the special story of the neighborhood’s past, visit the courtyard of Haji Adoniyah and the Moussaieff complex, and see the “broken” hammam, ancient, mysterious graffiti, a satellite dish and the “Messiah’s Palace”.
Additionally, hear local folklore – how Bukharians celebrate the birth of a son, in contrast to a daughter; how the bride is bound to the groom – and the pleasant buzzing of Bukharan melodies. While wandering, discuss changes that have occurred in this space, and examine the modern, ultra-orthodox character of the neighborhood. A colorful, picturesque tour, befitting the neighborhood.
Includes tastings: felafel balls, kugel, kubaneh.
Meeting Point: 10 Rehovot Ha-Bocharim St, in the garden adjacent to the Bukharim Community Center
