SoHo Jerusalem
Tour in Nahalat Shiv’a, its personalities, sites and story
In 1869, 7 young entrepreneurs left the walls of the Old City in order to establish a new neighborhood. These entrepreneurs – including Yoel Moshe Salomon, Yosef Rivlin, and Yehoshua Yellin – were inspired to settle the land, build and develop it. This small neighborhood was named after them, Nachalat Shiv’a (“Shiv’a” is “7” in Hebrew), and became over the years part of the city center. In the 1980’s it was renovated and became part of the entertainment complex in Jerusalem, meriting the nickname “SoHo Jerusalem”. We embark on a tour focusing on the neighborhood’s personalities, sites and stories.
On our tour of the neighborhood, we see the following sites: Beit Yoel, Tmol Shilshom, the Sephardic synagogue, the Ashkenazic synagogue, Feingold courtyard, Friends of Zion Museum, and Kikar HaMusica (does not include entry to sites).
There are public protected spaces in several places along the route | It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and warm clothing.
The tour is subject to a minimum number of participants | There may be changes due to weather | Private group tours can also be arranged – for details > *2884 | [email protected]
