A City of Madness and Prophets:"Jerusalem Syndrome" In Hebrew

In Jerusalem, if you speak to God, it’s prayer. If God speaks to you…that’s crazy! Jerusalem Syndrome is a unique psychological disorder in the context of history, stories, traditions, and religious connections encircling Jerusalem, causing visitors to become disconnected from reality as they identify themselves as the Messiah or harbingers of redemption, and “decorate” the city’s streets with curious behaviors and unusual visions … and that’s still happening today!

The tour looks at this fascinating phenomenon, understands “psychogeography”s and examines theological understandings of Jerusalem’s role in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The tour wanders through the alleyways of the Old City, and s the story of people who experienced “Jerusalem Syndrome” firsthand. It’s a perspective of the Holy City from a slightly different angle. Meeting point: The Tower of David Museum | End point: The Hurva Square
