Mt. Zion is a special place for Jews, Christians and Muslims, and it has historical sites showing its importance for all three religions. As early as the Byzantine period, sites were developed on Mt. Zion attesting to its religious significance, and religious ceremonies started to be held here. These sites celebrated the mountain as the tomb of King David and the place of the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples. Through the years, Mt. Zion passed between different hands and experienced disagreements and conflicts. In the area, one monumental structure sticks out that was built at the beginning of the 20th century in the Neo Romanesque style for the Benedictine Order. This is the Dormition Abbey dedicated to Mary, mother of Jesus, who according to tradition fell into an eternal slumber here.

How did this mountain become holy to 3 religions? What was the relationship between them through history? And what is happening today on Mt. Zion? These questions and others will be answered. Includes visit to the tomb of King David and the Dormition Abbey, recently reopened after an extensive renovation.‌
