Tower of David Jerusalem Mesuem staff
Jerusalem boasts many homes of important and influential people who worked in and contributed to the city. In this series, get to know these personalities and their works by visiting their homes and seeing what is happening in the surrounding area today.
The “Rehovot” neighborhood was established at the end of the 19th century by Jews from Uzbekistan, and since then it has been called by all the “Bukharan Quarter”. The Davidoff family, affluent merchants who were among the heads of the Bukharan community, built their home in the neighborhood.
Explore the Bukharan Quarter, from the time of the residents’ immigration to Israel, the establishment of the neighborhood, the homes and the personalities who lived there. Visit the Davidoff family house, one of the most pleasant in Jerusalem, and hear about the family and its descendants, and about the saga of the house, as it changed from a private family home, to a Jerusalem Hebrew gymnasium school, to its current use as the neighborhood’s community center.
Meeting Point: The public garden next to the Davidoff house – 10 Rehovot Ha-Bocharim St.
