The Benedictine Monks

Many Faces –  Tours about communities and families in Jerusalem (Heb.)

Friday, 20.10.2017 I at 9:00

A tour of Mount Zion, that is sacred to the three monotheistic religions. We will get to know the Benedictine Order that was founded in the 6th century in Italy, and first began to set in Jerusalem at the end of the 19th century, after the visit of the German Kaiser Wilhelm II to the land of Israel.

We will hear about the monks of the Holy Zion: Why did they build their monastery on Mount Zion, and how did the hill become a pilgrimage site and an eternal dwelling place for the dead of Jerusalem?

We will visit the Dormition Abbey, the Last Supper Room, the Greek Garden and the courtyard of Ed Cenaculum Church.
