Summer programs for adults with disabilities together with youth organizations

Tuesday, July 17 I 5:00pm – 7:00pm


After several very successful programs, the Tower of David opens its gates this summer for adults with special needs by offering activities geared for them, held during quieter hours to provide a pleasant, positive, accepting atmosphere.

Featured this year: Celebrating 70 years of Israel’s Independence

Activities and tours in the citadel and museum including: reenactment of the various immigrations (aliyahs) to the Land of Israel, decorating the symbol of the state, meeting with historical personalities, creating a mobile with the symbols of the state and many more activity stations.

• Guides for the activities have been certified by SHEKEL Institute (a registered non-profit organization)


 

Descriptions of the Stations:

Jerusalem, the Capital: Putting together a puzzle of the sites of Jerusalem – Jerusalem as the capital city of the past and today.

  • Station 1 on the map (square near the cafeteria)

Game of the State: A game of questions about the State of Israel.

  • Station 2 on the map (square near the cafeteria)

Play: When King David meets David Ben Gurion.

  • Station 3 on the map (Spice Garden)
    Every half hour: 5:15pm, 5:45pm, 6:15pm, 6:45pm

Creative workshop: Creating a festive mobile with the symbols of the state.

  • Station 4 on the map (multi-purpose room)

Historical personalities: Reenactment of the different immigration (aliyahs) to the Land of Israel using costumes and historical objects.

  • Station 5 on the map (Olive tree)

Citadel Bingo: Bingo with questions and pictures which are connected to the Tower of David.

  • Station 6 on the map (Early Moslem Period room)
    Every half hour: 5:30pm, 6:00pm, 6:30pm

Symbols of the State: Decorating symbols of the state with various icons.

  • Station 7 on the map (Ottoman Period room)

Guided tours in the rooms of the citadel: Short tours of the citadel.

  • Station 8 on the map (Stage theater)
  • Tour times: 5:30pm, 6:15pm

Important information:

  • Parking is available for a fee in Mamilla and Carta lots nearby.
  • Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress warmly.
  • During activity hours, the museum cafeteria will be closed. Please bring food and drink as needed.
