The ultimate event in world soccer is coming to the very entrance of Jerusalem’s Old City

The Tower of David Museum and “Kulna Jerusalem” bring the 2018 FIFA World Cup to the most beautiful place in Jerusalem where residents of West and East Jerusalem can view the game together, including special performances, and a special penalty kick contest for 100 young people at the Jaffa Gate which will become a Soccer Gate for the occasion.

With the opening of the 2018 FIFA World Cup games, “Kulna Jerusalem” and the Tower of David Museum are happy to present 3 festive events which will occur during the World Cup under the auspices of the project “Goals and Gatew”.

June 25, 2018 I 6:30pm-11:00pm – Kick-off event at the Tower of David Museum:

At the base of the Tower of David in David’s Garden, a soccer goal will be placed for a penalty-kick contest. Eleven representatives will be chosen from the various projects of “Kulna Jerusalem”. The contest will be accompanied by dancers from the Capoeira group “Menino Boom” from Beit Hanina who will get the crowd into the proper mood for kick-off.

  • Special Featured Performance: Spanish Moroccan musical event (“Hafla”) with the orchestra “Ole Andalusia” (chosen from the “Avram Bar” players). This musical event is organized in honor of the World Cup game between Spain and Morocco

The game will be screened on a giant screen against the Old City walls. The orchestra will get the crowd into the proper mood while piles of sunflower seeds and a face painting stand will round out the viewing experience.

July 10, 2018: 6:30pm-11:00pm – Early Games:

About 100 young people from East and West Jerusalem will compete in 2 penalty-kick contests, one for men and one for women, which will occur simultaneously. Professional goalies will be in the stands – famous goalies from the past together with current ones. Five young people from each tournament will advance to the finals to be held the next day.

  • Accompanying the contest will be the troupe “Menino Boom” from Beit Hanina. They will be accompanied by Brazilian musicians who came especially for this event.

At 9:00pm, a festive screening of the first semi-final game takes place at the Tower of David Museum.

July 11, 2018: 7:00pm-11:00pm – The Grand Finals:

Who will be the penalty-kick king of Jerusalem? Who will conquer historic Jaffa Gate?

Concurrently with the grand finale, there will be a penalty-kick contest for the general public at the Tower of David Museum garden exit. Afterwards, when Jerusalem discovers who the penalty-kick champions are, the second game of the semi-finals will be screened both at the Tower of David and Jaffa Gate in Hebrew and Arabic.
