Special Events in the Courtyard of the Citadel

For thousands of years, from the days of Herod the Great until the Ottoman era, the Citadel was a governmental and military center.  Known as the Tower of David, the Jerusalem Citadel, located next to Jaffa Gate between the Old City and the New City, is an historical and archaeological treasure of worldwide importance.  Within the courtyard of the Citadel there is a delightful garden containing archaeological remains from different historical periods of the city. Appropriate for private and corporate events, galas, Bar Mitzvah celebrations, weddings, conferences and artistic performances.  Performances – up to 650 people; cocktail parties and receptions – up to 650 people; seated table events – up to 350 people.

Special Events in the Moat

The Citadel is surrounded by a grassy moat, a wide channel used as part of the defensive system of the Citadel.

There are unique archaeological findings there including remains from a First Temple quarry, a ritual bath – mikveh – from the Second Temple period and a monumental stone stairway, carved into the rock, which leads to a partially plastered pool dated to the time of Herod the Great.  An exterior reception area and accessible restrooms are adjacent to this complex.

Appropriate for receptions, private and corporate events, reception before or after the Night Experience, Kabbalat Shabbat, Torah reading, Bar Mitzvah celebrations, weddings.

Cocktail parties and receptions – up to 150 people; seated table events – up to 90 people.

Special Events in the Crusader Hall

A unique hall of natural grandeur built during Crusader times and used by the rulers of the city – kings and knights as well as the peasants and soldiers accompanying them.  Numerous museum cultural events, exhibitions and performances have been held in this hall.  An exterior reception area and restrooms are adjacent to the complex.

Appropriate for receptions, dinners, private and corporate events, receptions before or after the Night Experiences, Kabbalat Shabbat, Bar Mitzvah celebrations, weddings and lectures.

Cocktail parties and receptions – up to 150 people; seated table events – up to 90 people.

Special Events on the Phasael Tower Observation Point

This impressive tower which rises to an imposing height was built by King Herod the Great during his reign in Jerusalem; it is the only tower which remains from this time period.  From the top of the tower, there is a breath-taking 360° view of the Old City, the Judean desert, the mountains of Moab, the Temple Mount and the Mount of Olives to the east and Mishkenot Shananim, the center of the city and the new neighborhoods to the west.  The observation point from the top of the tower is the highest in the Old City and gives a vista of the entire city of Jerusalem.

Appropriate for Torah readings, wedding ceremonies, and short, small events.

Events – up to 120 people.

Special Events in Gan David - David Garden

Gan David – David Garden lies at the base of the Tower of David  and is an open space with an impressive overlook of Jerusalem.  The garden looks over Mishkenot Shananim, the center of the city and the new neighborhoods and creates a unique experience with the special atmosphere of Jerusalem.  The complex is surfaced in stone and is surrounded by the Old City walls.

Appropriate for events, receptions before or after the Night Experiences, cocktail parties.

Special events – up to 500 people.

Special Events in the Knights’ Hall

The Knights’ Hall is located next to the museum exit, opposite Jaffa Gate Square.  The impressive hall, built during the time of Crusader rule in the Land of Israel has a high ceiling and Crusader arches are incorporated into the walls.  A wide variety of cultural events and different performances have been held here. An exterior reception area and accessible restrooms are adjacent to the complex.

Appropriate for dinners, receptions before or after the Night Experiences, Torah reading and lectures.

Cocktail parties and receptions – up to 80 people; seated table events – up to 60 people.

Special Events on the Roof below the Tower of David

At the base of the prominent symbol of Jerusalem and on the roof of the original Crusader Hall of the Citadel of Jerusalem, there is a special space for small, boutique events.  The space is paved with Jerusalem stone and includes an observation point over modern Jerusalem on one side and the ancient Citadel on the other side.

Appropriate for events, receptions before or after the Night Experiences, cocktail parties and wedding ceremonies.

Cocktail parties and receptions – up to 80 people, seated table events – up to 50 people.
