    Three \u201cgifts\u201d were given to German Emperor Wilhelm II following his famous visit to Jerusalem in 1898: the Dormition Church, the Augusta Victoria complex on the Mount of Olives, and St. Paul\u2019s Hospice, intended as a lodging house for German Catholic pilgrims.<\/p>

    On this tour we will visit St. Paul\u2019s Hospice, where we will see wooden models of the Temple Mount from the Second Temple and medieval periods, created by Conrad Schick in the late 19th century. We will also view Father Schmitz\u2019s taxidermy collection and the leather chairs on which Emperor Wilhelm II himself sat during his visit. We will then ascend to a unique panoramic viewpoint over Damascus Gate and the Old City, and conclude at the modest church dedicated to \u201cThomas the Doubter,\u201d belonging to the fascinating Syriac-Aramaic-speaking community.<\/p>
