From the Tower of David to the Temple Mount – A Tour for Parents and Children

In this special tour designed for children and the whole family, we will explore up one of the most fascinating sites in the world-the Temple Mount.

The tour begins at the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum, to learn about the First and Second Temples and the many traditions associated with the site. Through innovative displays, models, and games, we will explore the Foundation Stone, Herod’s construction methods, and pilgrimage in ancient times. We will also become familiar with the Muslim tradition and the story of the construction of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and take in the power of the Temple Mount from the highest viewpoint in the Old City.

From there, we will walk through the Jewish Quarter to the Mughrabi Gate, the entrance for visitors to the Temple Mount. On the Mount itself, we will observe the vast compound and its many impressive structures. We will search for remains from the Temple period and hear about the important sifting project, see the Golden Gate, learn about the arrival of IDF forces during the Six-Day War, and try to understand the place of the Temple Mount in contemporary Israeli reality.

The tour is especially suitable for curious children aged 8 and above and includes storytelling and visual demonstrations.
The tour is coordinated with the police.

End Point: Chain Gate (participants may return with the guide to Jaffa Gate or continue independently to the Western Wall Plaza)

Dress Code: Modest attire is required: no sleeveless tops, no tight jeans, no low-cut clothing, no clothing with military or political slogans, and trousers/skirts must reach the knees. It is recommended to bring a scarf or shawl to cover the shoulders. Entry with weapons is not permitted. The police prohibit bringing religious items onto the site (lockers are available for storage; responsibility is not assumed by the Museum or the police).
