Guide

A special tour of the Museum for Islamic Art’s collections and rare items not on permanent display.
During the tour, we’ll explore the development of Islamic art in the region starting from the 7th century, and the influences it absorbed and exerted on the Jewish and Christian communities of the time.
We’ll descend into the museum’s vault to view items not on public display and ask: Why do cheetahs appear on medieval metalwork, and how are they connected to the Lion’s Gate? What can we learn about religious influences from a 13th-century gold belt buckle? And how is Chinese porcelain related to the Dome of the Rock?
