Nearly two years after its gates were locked, Rockefeller Museum reopens for visitors. We invite you to a special, one-of-a-kind tour in one of the most interesting and expansive buildings in Jerusalem – the Rockefeller Museum – the place where East and West meet.
In the extraordinary hexagonal building, built in the European style with local touches, the majesty of the British Mandatory period has been infused with the spirit of Jerusalem for nearly 100 years.
The Rockefeller Museum – used until recently as the home of the Israel Antiquities Authority – contains special exhibits, exciting chapters in archaeology, some of the most important ancient remains found in the Land of Israel, and a courtyard with a magical atmosphere.
Visit the British museum galleries, the library where sequestered scrolls were deciphered, the round meeting room, and the backyard where a large, Ottoman house stands on its foundations, dating back to the 18th century, and includes a surprise.
Meeting point: Nahal Tsofim parking lot (next to the Giv’at Hamivtar Light Rail Station), exact location: the park in the center of the parking lot.
From there, shuttle to the Rockefeller Museum. Please arrive 15 minutes before the time of the tour, we cannot wait for late-comers.
For those arriving by public transportation: because of the cessation of the light rail, there are shuttles from the Central Bus Station and from Safra Square to the Nahal Tsofim parking lot.
For those arriving by private vehicles: by GoogleMaps: Giv’at Hamivtar Light Rail Station. Parking is free.
At the end of the Rockefeller Museum tour, the shuttle will return the participants to the Nahal Tsofim parking lot.
Note! It is not possible to arrive by private vehicle to the Rockefeller Museum; there is no parking at the site. For those interested in arriving on their own to Rockefeller (without a vehicle), please let the guide know the day before the tour, so that the shuttle is not unnecessarily delayed.
*Tour is offered in conjunction with the Tower of David, Israel Antiquities Authority, and the Israel Museum.
Advanced reservation required | Comfortable shoes are recommended
Please arrive 15 minutes before the meeting time as the shuttle cannot wait for latecomers
Cost includes shuttle and entrance to the Rockefeller Museum
