During a meaningful tour of the Citadel, you’ll hear when the custom of making a pilgrimage to Jerusalem began, you’ll become acquainted with famous pilgrims who came to the city, and you’ll discover how the city’s residents customarily hosted those who made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Biennale will take place this year for the third time, this year with the title “Watershed”

The Jerusalem Biennale promotes professional artists and curators who are active in the field of contemporary art and whose work has a connection to the world of Jewish content. As part of the Biennale, two new exhibitions will be featured at the Tower of David:

  • Lili Almog – Interior Space. Curator: Eilat Lieber
  • Avner Sher – Alternative Topographies. Curator: Dr. Smadar Shefi

The Fifty Years, Fifty Faces Project: A Discussion and Show

50 Years 50 Faces

“50 Years, 50 Faces” is a unique project in honor of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. It presents the different faces of the city by featuring the people who lived and live in the city and their stories about the moments of the reunification of the city.

A panel on the topic of “The Six-Day War: An Inside Glimpse from the Prime Minister’s Office”: In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War, we will hold a special seminar in conjunction with Yad Levi Eshkol that will explore the decision-making processes of the diplomatic echelon in the days prior to the critical war.

The cantata “Jerusalem That Is in the Heart” by the poet Yossi Gamzu, to be performed by eight singers: Yossi Gamzu participated in the Six-Day War in one of the entertainment teams of the IDF and later composed the poem “HaKotel.” In honor of the fiftieth year since the Six-Day War, Gamzu composed a cantata about the liberation of Jerusalem, which he will play at the Citadel.
