Join author and journalist Sarah Tuttle-Singer for a conversation with journalist Mathew Kalman about her new book, Fairy Lights in God’s Backyard: A Jerusalem Love Story.

Part memoir, part love letter to Jerusalem, Fairy Lights gathers stories from years spent living in the Old City – stories of neighbors and strangers, motherhood and autism, love and loss, holiness and absurdity, and the spectacularly ordinary moments that make a place a home.

Sarah Tuttle-Singer is a Jerusalem-based author and journalist who writes at the intersection of memory, history, motherhood, and place. With a voice that is by turns lyrical, irreverent, and deeply human, she explores the beauty and contradictions of life in the Holy City. She is the Peoples of Israel Curator at The Times of Israel and the author of Jerusalem, Drawn and Quartered. Sarah also speaks before audiences left, right, and center through the Jewish Speakers Bureau, asking them to wrestle with important questions while celebrating their willingness to do so. Her essays have reached readers around the world, weaving together personal narrative with the layered histories of Jerusalem’s streets and the people who call them home.
