The exhibit “On The Other Side” opening on September 18 at the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum, presents works of sculpture and video works by the internationally-known Israeli artist Zadok Ben-David, one of the most successful Israeli artists in the world. Some of the works are site specific, created especially for the Citadel, and some works were previously presented around the world and are shown for the first time in Israel as part of this exhibit.
An exploration of contradictions and changing circumstances is the central motif in Ben-David’s work and is expressed in various ways by means of fantastical images inspired by the natural world which are metaphors for the complex spirit of man. Through images from the natural world, the exhibition presents the tension between the extremes in which both people and nature move: mourning and renewed blossoming, dark and light, pessimism and optimism.
The exhibit is spread throughout the Tower of David spaces: the Museum’s new entrance pavilion, the archaeological garden in the Citadel’s courtyard, and the hexagonal hall in the eastern gate of the place.
Curator: Eilat Lieber
The artist will be present at the exhibit’s opening event, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in the new entrance pavilion.
