Mount Zion holds a special place for Jews, Christians, and Muslims, with historic sites reflecting its significance to all three religions. These include the traditional location of King David’s Tomb and the site of Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples. Over the centuries, the mountain changed hands many times and was the subject of disputes and conflicts.

Dominating the area is an impressive early 20th-century Neo-Romanesque structure built for the Benedictine Order: the Dormition Abbey, dedicated to Mary, mother of Jesus, who, according to tradition, fell into eternal sleep here.

How did the mountain become holy for all three religions? What was the relationship between them throughout history? And what is happening on Mount Zion today? All this and more on a tour that includes visits to King David’s Tomb and the Dormition Abbey, which has recently reopened to the public after extensive renovations.

Meeting point: Zion Gate

The tour includes entry to the church. Modest dress required (no sleeveless shirts or shorts) | Advance registration required | Number of participants is limited.
