The Syriac community takes pride in having been established in Jerusalem since the time of Jesus. St. Mark’s Monastery in the Old City serves as the center of this Aramaic-speaking community, with a small yet impressive church, and a long-standing tradition that the Last Supper of Jesus took place in the cellar of the site.
We will set out on a tour following this small and ancient community, learning about its way of life, customs, and history, and we will meet a representative of the community.
The tour includes entry to the church. Please arrive in modest attire (no sleeveless shirts or shorts).
Meeting Point: Angelina Drahi Entrance Pavilion, western entrance to the Tower of David, near Mamilla Mall
End Point: Jaffa Gate
