The Syriac community stands out because of its presence in Jerusalem since the days of Jesus. The Monastery of St. Mark in the Old City serves as a community center for Aramaic speakers, and it houses a small, impressive church. A longtime tradition posits that Jesus’ last supper was held in the basement of the building. Learn about this small, ancient community and get an inside look at its values, customs, and traditions, and meet a monk from the community.
Tour includes entrance to the church, please dress modestly (no sleeveless shirts or shorts).
