The Freemasons are an organization that has existed for centuries. Their origins are likely in the guilds of builders of castles and cathedrals in medieval Europe, yet they are widely regarded as a secret society, surrounded by symbols, traditions, and stories that add to their mystique. The organization upholds principles of freedom, brotherhood, equality, and mutual aid.
This historical and somewhat unusual tour through central Jerusalem traces the Freemasons who operated in the city – some well-known, others less so. We will follow the lives of a Zionist leader, an educator, an artist, a musician, lawyers, a philanthropist, and perhaps even a policeman, and learn about the role Freemasonry played in their lives. The tour concludes with a visit to a Masonic lodge.
Meeting Point: Safra Square, near the piano
End Point: City Center
