The month of Elul is approaching, and we hear a traditional melody.
Again this year, meet for Selichot prayers in the Tahrir style at the Tower of David, against the backdrop of the walls of the Old City.
“Selichot Tahrir Style” is not just a performance. It is a complex musical meeting, set on the heart strings of a wide and varied population. A work born from an intense desire to create a connection, a meeting, and shared emotion – so vital during these days. From inside the distress and pain of the last year, we specifically ask at this time, as the months of the year are ending and the year to come is knocking at the door, to find solace in music, to make a connection through song, prayer, and hope for better days.
Meet in the courtyard of the Tower of David Citadel to sing piyyutim poetry, melodies, and prayers. Four singers will offer solo and ensemble selections. Like every year, the performance features the special Tahrir sound and includes original works that are both innovative and traditional.
Throughout the evening you can wander through the new galleries of the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum.
Tahrir Artists:
Eliyahu Degmi ( electric guitar and saz), Shauli Itzhak (oud, baglamas, guitar and arrangements), Yaara Beeri (kamanche), Netanel Siton (bass), Yagel Dorel (drums), Moatasem Abdo (percussion). Mor Karbasi (vocals), Liat Itzhaki (vocals), Yehonatan Hota (vocals), Yair Cochav (vocals, creative director and producer).
“Tahrir” is a traveling cultural organization and a platform for meeting, arts and entertainment. Tahrir events are a home for creative development and action, connecting social change with music and art – from the ancient Sephardic tradition of piyyut poetry to modern multidisciplinary Mizrachi works.
