The Christian Quarter is the second largest of the four quarters in the Old City, and contains the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the central focus of the city’s main Christian denominations.
Tour the alleyways of the Christian Quarter and the area of Muristan, learn about the development of the quarter, hear about the different groups that live there, and experience the quarter’s special rhythm of life during modern times. Ascend to a rooftop observation point on the Maronite monastery, looking over the Christian Quarter, visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and learn about the different church areas, Christian traditions, art, and architecture. Visit the adjacent Alexander Nevsky church, affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Church, where we will see one of the Roman victory arches, among the earliest remains in Jerusalem.
The tour includes entry to churches; please dress modestly.
Meeting Point: Jaffa Gate
Advanced registration required | Warm clothing recommended | Tour is outdoors.
