In Jerusalem, if you speak to God, it’s prayer. But if God speaks to you – it’s madness!

Jerusalem Syndrome is a unique psychological phenomenon in which the history, stories, traditions, and religious associations surrounding Jerusalem can cause visitors to lose touch with reality, imagine themselves as messiahs or harbingers of redemption, and fill the city’s streets with unusual behavior and extraordinary scenes.

On this tour, we’ll explore this fascinating phenomenon, learn about psychogeography, and discover the theological ideas that have developed around Jerusalem in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. We’ll wander through the winding alleys of the Old City, hear the stories of people who experienced Jerusalem Syndrome firsthand, and look at the Holy City from a somewhat different perspective.

Meeting point: Tower of David
End point: Austrian Hospice (Option to walk back with the guide to Jaffa Gate.)

Please note: The tour includes visits to churches. Weapons are not permitted. Please dress modestly.
