Come join in the celebrations of Jerusalem Day at the Citadel and meet the unforgettable personalities, events and stories of Jerusalem past and present.

We will celebrate this important day with the sounds of the Jerusalem Orchestra East West, performing together with special guest: Kobi Aflalo

Musical, Theatrical Experiences in the Citadel (Heb.)

In the courtyards of the museum, meet King David and the Visionary of the State, Theodor Herzl and ascertain for once and for all: Who invented the symbol, the Star of David?

Suleiman the Magnificent will have an unforgettable meeting with Herod the Great and Teddy Kollek to decide:  Who is the greatest builder of them all?

Herbert Samuel, the first British High Commissioner of Palestine, will host us in his living room for a special British tea party.  We will experience, with song and dance, the moment on the 29th of November when the Partition Plan was signed in the United Nations.

Golda Meir will invite us into her kitchen for a cooking lesson.  We will enjoy a blue-and-white, stand-up Jerusalem comic and relax with a sing-along of Israeli songs from composers throughout the ages.

Who else will come? Palmachnikim and accordion players, merchants from Machane Yehuda market, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, Ada Yonath – each one with an exciting story of their adventures and experiences in Jerusalem.

  • Tours and food tastings will also be available throughout the museum

Reception

Jerusalem Day

The Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, and his wife will host at the Citadel the traditional reception for the residents of the city.

  • The Mayor of Jerusalem will be present at the reception between 3:30pm-5:30pm

Other Activities

In honor of the occasion, the Innovation Lab of the Tower of David will be open to the general public. The visitor to the museum will be able to experience the latest developments of the Lab and especially, participate in the activities of the Australian company, Lithodomos VR, which uses advanced technological techniques in archaeological settings.
